Aerodynamics

Made for EVs

Aerodynamics is at our core. The streamlined shape sits in the slipstream of your car. Less drag means more range and fewer charging stops. We measured it on our trip to Italy, from Supercharger to Supercharger and across the Alps, as well as on many other drives all over Germany, with cruise control set to 100 km/h on the motorway wherever possible.

Why 100 km/h? It is the highest speed you may legally tow the Glide at in Germany, and that is where we set our benchmark. Because drag grows with the square of speed, you will get noticeably further at 80 or 90 km/h. But our aim is for the Glide to stay efficient at full speed too.

Drag coefficient (car + trailer)0.34*
Consumption at 100 km/h180–220Wh/km
Wh/km in summer temperatures · equals 18–22 kWh per 100 km for car and trailer
Range per charge
Speed
240km with Glide approx. 355 km without trailer
Using the 10 to 90 % battery window (80 % of capacity). Assumption: around 200 Wh/km at a constant 100 km/h, about 60 % of it aerodynamic drag, which falls with the square of speed. That gives around 175 Wh/km at 90 km/h and 155 Wh/km at 80 km/h. Comparison without trailer: 135 Wh/km at 100 km/h. Battery sizes are rounded net guide values; your car may differ depending on model year and version.

* Drag coefficient from simulation, depends on the towing vehicle. Reference vehicle: Tesla Model Y Standard, model year 2026, 60 kWh battery. Motorway, cruise control at 100 km/h where possible. Consumption depends on weather, wind and route.

Flow simulation

Hidden in the slipstream

The drag coefficient is only half the story. How much energy the headwind costs depends on the drag coefficient multiplied by the frontal area. That is why a small frontal area mattered so much to us: the Glide barely extends beyond the silhouette of your car and so stays largely hidden in its slipstream.

The CFD simulation shows it: the air flows over car and trailer instead of hitting the trailer head-on. That is the key to low consumption.

CFD simulation from the front: streamlines flow around the Tesla Model Y and the Glide, the trailer barely extends beyond the car silhouette
Front view: the Glide extends only slightly beyond the silhouette of the Model Y.
CFD simulation from the side: streamlines flowing over the Tesla Model Y and the Glide
Side view: the streamlines flow smoothly over car and trailer.

Cast in one piece

We developed our own 3D sandwich process. With it, we build the cabin as a free-form monocoque: a self-supporting shell made of a flax-fibre/GRP composite.

Building from flat panels ties you to their geometry: flat surfaces, hard edges, few curves. Our process has no such limit. That lets us round off edges and corners and shape the shell freely around the airflow.

Conventional timber constructions also need a sub-frame, which adds weight. Our monocoque cell, by contrast, is bolted directly to the A-frame drawbar and axle. So we combine an already light shell with a greatly reduced chassis.

The result: 320 kg empty weight. Camper trailers of similar size often weigh 500 to 750 kg, so the Glide is up to around 50 % lighter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a square drop – and how is it different from a teardrop?

A teardrop is a small camper trailer shaped like a drop: tall at the front, sloping steeply at the back, usually with a rear kitchen. A square drop is boxier, giving more headroom and storage in similarly compact dimensions. The Glide combines both: the space efficiency of a square drop with softly rounded edges and an aerodynamic shape known from teardrops.

Is the Glide a mini camper or a caravan?

A bit of both, just smaller: the Glide is a mini camper trailer. Instead of a dinette and bathroom, it has a large bed, an outdoor rear kitchen and plenty of storage. With 320 kg empty weight and a 750 kg maximum weight, it is much lighter than a classic caravan and fits in many garages.

How much does the Glide cost?

The Launch Edition costs €24,990 including 19 % German VAT, plus registration (approx. €400) and transport if needed. You can also collect your Glide yourself from us in Anzing near Munich. Standard equipment includes the rear kitchen with sink and gas stove, awning, roof window, battery, solar panel and shore power inlet.

How does the reservation work?

A €50 reservation secures your place on our production list. The order of reservations determines priority in the production schedule. From the first quarter of 2027 you will receive a written, personal offer. Whether you accept it is entirely up to you. The number of production slots for 2027 is limited.

Do I get the €50 back?

Yes. If you decide not to buy, we refund the €50 in full, without you having to do anything.

When is the €7,990 deposit due?

When you place your order: you receive a written offer from us. If you then place the order, the purchase contract is concluded and the deposit of €7,990 becomes due. We credit your €50 reservation towards it. Until then you pay nothing apart from the reservation.

When will the Glide be available?

Deliveries of the Launch Edition start in the second quarter of 2027. We only have a limited number of production slots for 2027, allocated in the order in which reservations and orders reach us. The earlier you reserve, the sooner it is your turn.

Can I see the Glide or try it out?

From the first quarter of 2027 you can see the Glide and try out the bed at our workshop in Anzing near Munich, by appointment. Sign up for the newsletter and we will let you know.

How aerodynamic is the Glide?

Very. In simulation, car and trailer together reach a drag coefficient of 0.34. The exact value depends on the towing vehicle. That is why your EV needs only moderately more energy with the Glide than on its own.

How much energy does my EV use with the Glide?

With our Tesla Model Y Standard (model year 2026, 60 kWh battery), car and trailer used between 180 and 220 Wh/km on the motorway, with cruise control at 100 km/h where possible, in summer temperatures. Without the trailer, the car uses around 130 to 140 Wh/km under the same conditions. Wind, temperature and route affect the figures.

Is the Glide suitable for winter?

We do not recommend pure winter camping. For summer, spring and autumn, however, the Glide is perfect: it is insulated all round with 30 mm, and the optional air conditioning can cool and heat. There is no separate heater.

How self-sufficient am I on the road?

A 1.2 kWh LFP lithium-ion battery and a 200 W solar panel power lights and devices via 4 USB ports (two at 100 W in the kitchen and interior, two at 25 W) and 2 Schuko sockets (800 W inverter). At the campsite, the built-in charger tops up the battery from shore power.

Is a Class B driving licence enough?

Yes. The Glide has a maximum permissible weight of 750 kg. In the EU you may tow trailers up to 750 kg with a Class B licence.

What towing vehicle do I need?

Your car needs a tow bar, a towing capacity of at least 750 kg and a permissible nose weight of at least 75 kg. Many EVs meet this easily.

How many people does it sleep?

The 147 × 200 cm bed sleeps two adults and a child. An optional child bed is fitted crosswise above the main bed.

Which colours and options are available?

The Glide is available in Forest, Dune, Dark Ocean and Granite. Options include air conditioning (cools and heats), a cooler, a projection screen and a child bed; a roof rack can be retrofitted. We will discuss your wishes in the offer.

Where is the Glide built?

In Anzing near Munich. That is where we develop and build every Glide.
