Wood and Silicon, owner Jannick Mohr, Parkstraße 6b, 82008 Unterhaching, Germany

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (Cloudflare Workers). When you access the site, the host processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page accessed, browser type) in order to deliver the website securely and reliably. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation). A data processing agreement is in place with the host; transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

3. Cookies and visitor statistics

Without your consent we do not set any analytics or advertising cookies and do not embed any external analytics or advertising services. Fonts are loaded locally from our server. The exception is the embedded Google map on the homepage (see section 6).

To improve our website, we keep our own privacy-friendly visitor statistics. When you open a page and for certain actions (e.g. clicking “Reserve”, using the contact form, playing a video), an event is sent to our own server at Cloudflare. We record: page visited, referring website (domain only), campaign parameters in the link (utm), country, region, city, postcode area (first two digits only) and the approximate city centre (rounded to about 10 km), all roughly derived from the network connection, device type, browser, operating system, screen width, page language, visible time on page, scroll depth, sections viewed, click positions on the page (for a heatmap) and which form fields were clicked. The content of your entries is not recorded (exception: the preferred colour chosen from the list).

Your IP address is not stored. To group visitors within a single day, a non-reversible checksum is formed from the IP address, browser identifier and a random value that changes daily; the random value is deleted after one day, so you cannot be recognised across days. Without your consent no cookies are set for this and no information is stored on your device. Browsers with “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” enabled are not recorded. The data is used solely for statistical analysis, is not passed on to third parties and is deleted after 400 days at the latest. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving our website). You can object to this processing at any time, e.g. by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser or by emailing us.

Privacy settings (consent)

On your first visit we ask in a notice whether you consent to further analysis. We store your choice in your browser’s local storage (technically necessary, Section 25(2) No. 2 TTDSG/TDDDG). You can change or withdraw it at any time via the “Privacy settings” link in the footer; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. The legal basis for the following processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).

Statistics with recognition (only with consent)

If you consent to “Statistics”, we store a random identifier in your browser’s local storage. This lets our own statistics recognise when you come back later, e.g. how many visits precede a reservation and which source the first visit came from. The identifier contains no personal details, is not shared with third parties, is renewed after 13 months and deleted when you withdraw consent. We delete the related statistics data after 400 days at the latest.

Heatmaps with Microsoft Clarity (only with consent, if enabled)

If you consent to “Heatmaps”, we use Microsoft Clarity from Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd., One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Clarity records how the site is used (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) and creates heatmaps and anonymised session recordings; input in form fields is masked. Cookies (e.g. _clck, _clsk) are set for this. Data may be transferred to the USA; Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information: privacy.microsoft.com.

Marketing with Meta Pixel and Google Ads (only with consent, if enabled)

If you consent to “Marketing”, we embed the Meta Pixel from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, and the Google tag for Google Ads from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. This lets us measure whether visits via our ads on Instagram, Facebook, Google or YouTube lead to a reservation, enquiry or newsletter sign-up (conversion tracking), and show ads to people who have visited our website. Cookies (e.g. _fbp, _gcl_au) are set for this, and data such as IP address, browser details, pages visited and the events mentioned are transmitted to Meta or Google; data may be transferred to the USA (both providers are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). We are jointly responsible with Meta for collection and transmission via the Meta Pixel (Art. 26 GDPR); the agreement is available at facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum. More information: facebook.com/privacy/policy and policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Contact and reservation

If you contact us by email, phone or via the form, or reserve a Glide, we process your details (name, email address, phone number if provided, preferred colour and message) in order to handle your enquiry, manage your reservation and send you an offer. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

To send the form data to us, we use the Web3Forms service, provided by Web3Creative, Kerala, India. The form data is transmitted to Web3Forms, processed on servers in the USA and forwarded to us from there by email. According to its own information, Web3Forms does not store the form contents; server logs are deleted regularly after about two months. This involves a transfer to third countries outside the EU (USA, India). The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The transfer to third countries takes place because it is necessary to handle your enquiry or reservation and thus to carry out pre-contractual measures at your request (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR). Please note that these countries may not offer a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU. If you wish to avoid this, simply email us directly at info@woodandsilicon.com.

5. Payment of the reservation (PayPal)

The reservation fee of €50 is processed via PayPal (PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg). Clicking the PayPal button takes you to PayPal’s payment page; only there is the data required for payment (e.g. name, email address, address, payment details) processed. PayPal passes the address on to us so that we can send you your personal offer in writing. Depending on the payment method chosen (e.g. credit card, Apple Pay, “Pay Later”), PayPal may involve further service providers. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. PayPal’s privacy notice also applies. On the reservation form and the payment page we display the PayPal logo and the logos of the accepted payment methods, which are loaded directly from PayPal servers; PayPal receives technical data such as your IP address in the process. No PayPal program code is executed on our website.

6. Google Maps

On the homepage we embed a Google Maps map so that you can find our workshop. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. As soon as you access the area with the map, your browser connects to Google servers. In particular, your IP address, the date and time of access and technical data about your browser are transmitted, and Google may set cookies. A transfer to the USA is possible; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in presenting our location in an easy-to-find way (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Further information: policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address (and, if provided, your name) in order to inform you about news on the Glide, viewing dates and tours. We send it directly by email. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with a short email to info@woodandsilicon.com; we will then remove your address from the list.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To do so, simply contact us at the address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
